The Kelowna & District Genealogical Society’s Central Okanagan Obituaries Project is thriving thanks to a City of Kelowna Cultural Grant!
Our team of dedicated volunteers have indexed, scanned, and made available the obituaries of Indigenous peoples, historical figures, and recent residents of the Central Okanagan.
You can now search our comprehensive obituary database directly at: https://dashboard.kdgs.ca/public/search. This new search service allows you to explore our growing collection with ease and includes the direct download of listed obituaries for KDGS members or for a $10 fee for non-members.
The search service page also provides options for additional inquiries or to request specific obituary records not listed in the database.

Our Reference Library is located on the second floor of the Okanagan Regional Library’s downtown Kelowna Branch. Our partnership with the Library has allowed the Society to offer convenient access to our stellar collection of books, periodicals, maps and digital databases to the Central Okanagan community.
Come to the Library to chat with genealogists from the Kelowna and District Genealogical Society. Learn how to find more on your family tree, or ask about your next steps if you’ve hit a wall in your research.
The Okanagan Researcher includes information about our society, its meetings, projects, events and members as well as interesting historical articles and photos about the Okanagan and about the world-wide research of our members.
Our extensive collection of cemetery records includes the names and stories of people buried in small cemeteries or isolated graves throughout the Central Okanagan.
Meet people who care about history and families at our monthly meet-up. Our general meetings are also a great place to learn from each other and our guest speakers as we share our knowledge and expertise.
With over 19,000 obituaries indexed, scanned, and made accessible, the collection continues to grow thanks to the dedication of a team of Society members who diligently enter data, upload obituary images and proofread the records.
